Shulgin Foundation is thrilled to announce Music Is the Bridge: Shulgin Lab, a unique six-episode video series created in partnership with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). This project transforms the historic laboratory of Alexander “Sasha” Shulgin into an intimate performance space where music, psychedelic history, and cultural innovation converge.
The Series Premiere: Reggie Watts & Hamilton Morris in the Shulgin Lab
On Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 12 PM ET / 9 AM PT, we’re launching the series with a YouTube premiere that invites you into one of the most storied spaces in psychedelic science. The inaugural episode is a launch video featuring Reggie Watts and Hamilton Morris inside the very laboratory where Sasha resynthesized MDMA in 1976 and explored hundreds of novel compounds. Hamilton and Reggie talk through the historical context and cultural significance of Sasha and Ann’s work, setting the stage for the musical performances to be released later this year.
These performances won’t just be concerts. They’re an opportunity to experience the magic of a place that psychologist Gary Bravo once called incomparable. Like NPR’s Tiny Desk concerts, Music Is the Bridge: Shulgin Lab will create intimate moments where art and ideas meet, within walls that witnessed decades of transformational research into consciousness.
Why This Series Matters
Each of the six episodes after the launch video will pair live performances with mini-documentaries featuring behind-the-scenes footage from Shulgin Farm, interviews, and archival materials. Together, they honor Sasha and Ann’s approach to exploring consciousness: rigorous yet open-minded, grounded yet visionary, always deeply human.
Music Is the Bridge: Shulgin Lab does more than celebrate the past. It connects audiences to psychedelic education, therapy resources, and integration support, creating pathways from cultural engagement to meaningful involvement in the psychedelic renaissance. The series invites you to explore, to wonder, to connect.
How You Can Help This Vision Reach the World
Here’s where we need you! YouTube’s algorithm favors videos that generate strong engagement in their first 24 hours. When the premiere performs well early, the platform introduces it to wider audiences, people who may be encountering psychedelic science, medicine, and culture for the first time. Your participation matters.
We’re asking you to:
- Subscribe now to the Shulgin Foundation and MAPS YouTube channels
- Watch the entire premiere on February 12—staying through to the end!
- Share the video with friends or host a watch party to experience it together
When you watch within those first 24 hours, you’re not just supporting these organizations. You’re helping carry this work to new communities who need these resources and perspectives.
